NIU men’s golf head coach John Carlson announced the signing of three decorated recruits for the fall 2025 season.
“They’re (NIU’s three recruits) champions at the junior level,” Carlson said. “All three of them possess the ability to step right in and make a difference in our lineup next year.”
The recruits include Longages, France, native Corentin Guilloux, Ballyclare, Northern Ireland, native Stuart Nesbitt and Hinsdale Central High School senior Devin Swoyer.
Guillox brings a wealth of individual success to the Huskies’ lineup, as he won France’s under-18 national championship this past year. Guillox also won the Grand Prix du Golf d’Ariège-Pyrénées tournament.
“Corentin (Guilloux) had an incredible summer of golf, which not only put him to the top of our recruiting radar, but he ended up winning the French under-18 championship,” Carlson said. “He comes in as a very good student. Comes from a family that cares a lot about academics, and he’ll be a top fit for us right away.”
One of eight members of Team Ireland, Nesbitt also has a history of success at the junior level. Earlier this year, Nesbitt won the Ulster U18 Boys Open Championship.
“He’s (Nesbitt’s) coming in as one of the highest ranked recruits in NIU history,” Carlson said. “He was being recruited by many of the top 50 programs in the country for the class of 2026, and we were fortunate enough to have him sign with us for the class of 2025.”
Swoyer comes to NIU with success and familiarity, as he spent three years as a teammate of freshman Jack Mulligan. Individually, Swoyer competed in the Illinois State Amateur tournament, the Illinois Open and the US Junior Amateur tournament.
“Devin (Swoyer) will be great for the culture of our team,” Carlson said. “Jack (Mulligan) and Devin are good friends. And one of the reasons that we continue to look at the Hinsdale central program is they have success.”
At Hinsdale Central, Swoyer and Mulligan each contributed to back-to-back second place finishes at the 2022 and 2023 class 3A Illinois State Championships.
In order to achieve a class of highly-touted recruits, Carlson sells NIU’s history of effective coaching and professional development.
“We sell rich harvest farms (NIU’s practice course) — we sell the history of our coaching staff, taking players to the next level,” Carlson said.
The Huskies will return to action Feb. 24 at the Lake Las Vegas Invitational.
