Fans of the upcoming hero-based shooter game, “MARVEL Rivals,” now have the full roster of characters to get excited for along with a new trailer to get them hyped for the official release.
Released Saturday, the “Rivals ‘Til the End” launch trailer revealed the last few unknown characters from the official roster and presented the entire cast in a unique fashion similar to an “anime opening” theme.
Developed by MARVEL Games and NetEase Games, “MARVEL Rivals” is a six vs. six hero-based shooter game akin to games such as the Overwatch series and Valorant.
Players must work together using their chosen character’s skills and abilities as well as strategizing with their teammates to defeat the opposing team and claim victory.
The launch trailer revealed the last five characters to be Iron Fist, Black Widow, Cloak and Dagger, Squirrel Girl and Wolverine, each with their own unique new look reminiscent of their comic book counterparts.
Along with the five characters mentioned above, other members of the main cast – including the likes of Moon Knight, Spider-Man, Hawkeye, Iron Man, Hulk, Captain America, Psylocke and Magik, among others – showcased their abilities in an astounding cinematic display of eye-popping color.
Interestingly, the launch trailer gives off a slight “anime opening” aesthetic with the quick flow of colorful visuals and characters as well as the timely appearance of each character in tune with the vocals.
Chrissy Costanza, the vocalist behind the trailer theme, “Rivals ‘Til the End,” also performed in the theme “Hero Too” from the anime series “My HERO Academia,” which might explain the heroic and epic feeling usually felt from an anime-style opening.
With the release of the game only a few days away on Dec. 6 and the incredibly vast number of MARVEL characters that have been created since the birth of the franchise back in 1961, it’s hard not to imagine what other fan-favorite characters may make an appearance in the future.
