DeKALB – A man was charged with first degree murder and aggravated domestic battery in connection with a woman found dead Tuesday at her DeKalb apartment.
DeKalb police arrested and charged Devonne Montgomery, age 30, on Wednesday with the murder of 31-year-old Jasmine Dejournette, who police found not breathing and unresponsive at 820 W. Hillcrest Drive, according to a press release from the DeKalb Police Department.
According to the press release, police were responding to a report of an unresponsive female on Tuesday morning and were met at the apartment door by Montgomery.
Dejournette appeared to have significant facial injuries, according to the press release.
Montgomery was charged with two counts of first degree murder, aggravated domestic battery and unlawful possession of a weapon by a felon.
Montgomery was previously convicted of aggravated battery/discharge firearm in Kane County and aggravated unlawful use weapon/vehicle in Kane County.
