Freshman Irmak Budak has been named the Mid-American Conference Singles Player of the week, the conference announced on Monday.
Burdak went 2-0 over the weekend in the Huskies’ 7-0 victories against the University of Northern Iowa and Eastern Illinois University, continuing her 4-0 undefeated streak.
Starting the day against Northern Iowa, Budak took 6-2, 6-1 sets against senior Lorena Cardoso while playing at No. 1 singles.
Budak later took down Eastern Illinois sophomore Charleigh Fay in 6-2, 6-4 sets at the No. 2 singles spot.
This is the second week in a row that NIU has been awarded the honor, after junior Nataly Ninova earned the title on Jan. 20.
NIU women’s tennis faces the University of Wisconsin-Milwaukee at noon Saturday at the Nielsen Tennis Center in Madison, Wisconsin before taking on the University of Wisconsin-Madison at 5:30 p.m. SideArm Stats will be updating live stats.
