DeKALB – Two police officers were injured Tuesday after a police chase ended with a stolen vehicle crashing into an unmarked DeKalb Police car.
According to a press release from the DeKalb Police Department, a license plate reader alerted dispatch to the location of a stolen vehicle, a Black Nissan Rogue DA62886, prompting police to respond.
Kevin Andrew Fox, age 24, was filling the gas tank of the vehicle at Marathon Gas Station, 125 N. Annie Glidden Road, when police activated their emergency lights to conduct a traffic stop. Fox then accelerated out of the parking lot, with the gas nozzle still in the filler neck, and drove south in the far-left lane of Annie Glidden Road, turning onto Knolls Drive north. He collided with an unmarked DeKalb Police Department vehicle. After the crash, Fox fled on foot and was apprehended.
Fox has a warrant for his arrest in Atlanta, Georgia, for homicide, aggravated assault, and aggravated robbery. He was charged in DeKalb with aggravated battery, aggravated fleeing to elude and aggravated reckless driving.
Both officers in the DKPD vehicle and Fox were injured and received treatment at Kishwaukee Hospital.
