“Helldivers 2” has had quite the rocky journey since its release last February and is better than ever with some of the territories affected by the PSN debacle finally free.
On Jan. 23, five U.S. territories restricted from purchasing “Helldivers 2” were removed from the list on SteamDB detailing the areas in which the game can’t be purchased.
The territories include American Samoa, Guam, the Northern Mariana Islands, Puerto Rico and the U.S. Virgin Islands.
“Helldivers 2” was originally blacklisted due to the PSN debacle back in May of last year which began when users were informed that all players would be required to create a PlayStation network account in order to log in and play the game.
While this wasn’t necessarily a problem for PS5 users, the news was taken horribly by the PC community.
It may not seem like a huge deal as it usually only takes a few minutes to create an account, but many players were upset that this originally wasn’t a rule enforced when the game was released, essentially painting the situation as a “bait and switch.”
This wasn’t the worst of it though as some locations didn’t support Playstation service and thus the players who fairly purchased the game were stuck with a game they couldn’t log into due to their location.
This decision was eventually revoked, but the locations who don’t have access to the PlayStation network are still unable to purchase “Helldivers 2.”
Currently, there is no sign of the other locations being released from the restriction list. However, with the shift in the new president and chief executive officer at Sony, this could lead to those remaining locations being removed later on.
