DeKALB – Next fall, the Rockford Promise program at NIU will open to include Rock Valley College transfers.
Previously, students were only able to use the scholarship at NIU if they had a 3.0 GPA, were new graduates of Rockford public high schools and going into their freshman year of college.
Starting in fall 2025, select Rockford promise scholars at Rock Valley College (RVC) transferring to NIU will be able to attend the university tuition free.
The Rockford Promise program covers full tuition for students who have attended four years at a partner school, will graduate in 2025 and plan to attend school at Rockford University, Rock Valley College, NIU or Saint Anthony’s College of Nursing.
The transfer program is open to select Rockford Promise scholars graduating from RVC and transferring to NIU as a full-time student with an associate’s degree and GPA of 2.5 or higher.
The program is run by the Rockford Promise organization.
More information about the RVC to NIU program can be found on NIU’s Financial Aid and Scholarship website.
