NIU men’s tennis (3-3) fell to the Notre Dame University Fighting Irish (8-1) on Saturday. The Fighting Irish swept the match, defeating the Huskies 7-0.
Fighting Irish freshman Peter Nad and sophomore Chase Thompson defeated NIU sophomores Sam Klein and Saul Berdullas in a 6-3 set.
NIU junior Iker Dellien Velasco and sophomore Angus Howard fell to Fighting Irish junior Sebastian Dominko and freshman Luis Llorens Saracho by a score of 6-3.
NIU juniors Iker Gaztambide Arrastia and Federico Scotuzzi were down 4-3 against Notre Dame seniors Jameson Corsillo and Yu Zhang when the match was ruled unfinished.
In singles play, Gaztambide Arrasita was bested by Dominko 6-3, 6-4.
Berdullas fell to Zhang in 6-1, 6-2 sets.
Also in 6-1, 6-2 sets, Scotuzzi was defeated by Nad.
Dellien Velasco lost 6-3, 6-2 to Notre Dame sophomore Kyran Magimay.
Howard was beaten by Corsillo, falling in 6-2, 6-2 sets.
Rounding out singles play, Klein was bested by Llorens Saracho 6-1, 6-2.
The Huskies look to bounce back at 9 a.m. Sunday in South Bend, Indiana, against William & Mary.
