DeKALB – A new bill proposed in Illinois would allow 18 to 20 year olds to legally consume alcohol when accompanied by a parent or guardian.
The bill, HB1019 was introduced by Republican State Representative John M. Cabello.
The bill amends language in the Video Gaming Act, which allows authorities to investigate the age of customers establishments are providing liquor to. The updated text would allow organizations that sell liquor to sell to people between the ages of 18 and 21 if a parent or guardian is present.
The bill was introduced in December and had its first reading in the House on Sunday.
