With a new season of “Invincible” released Feb. 6, the hard hitting action and complex emotional depth is back and it absolutely did not disappoint.
Season 3 of “Invincible” brought with its new release answers to questions such as “Will Mark ask out Atom Eve?”, “What is new with Mark’s brother Oliver and will he have the same powers?” and “What happened to Omni-man and Allen the Alien after being trapped in a Viltrumite prison in space?”
The best part from the three episodes initially released was the breakup of the Guardians of the Globe due to Cecil Stedman, fearing Mark’s potential for destruction, putting a weapon in Mark’s (Invincible) head that left him incapacitated.
This action left a sour taste in the mouth of the members of the Guardians of the Globe, causing distrust of Cecil to grow in the minds of the members Rex Splode, Shrinking Rae, Rudy Conners and Monster Girl, leading to them leaving the team and forming their own new group.
After this season, my least favorite person in the show has to be Oliver. I get he’s a young kid who wants to use and explore his newfound powers, but he is a terrible, terrible listener to his brother Mark. Mark only wants the best for Oliver and tries to teach him how to use his powers safely without hurting others and under strict watch, however, Oliver does the exact opposite.
Due to his inability to listen to his brother, Oliver ends up killing both of the Mauler Twins, one of Invincible’s recurring enemies, in a fight where they tried to set off a nuclear missile to take over the world.
The worst part of it all was the lack of remorse Oliver had for killing them – he definitely is his father’s son. But Debbie, his adoptive mom, and Mark, now at home, tried to teach Oliver about why it’s bad to kill people.
It seems, at least for now, they have gotten through to him. Then, Mark notices a strange object floating outside his window. He bursts through the window and catches it.
It is revealed to be a camera spying on Mark’s family, sent by a mysterious man with most likely bad intentions. I hope it is revealed who this stranger is in the next episode.
Overall, the first three episodes of “Invincible” Season 3 have not disappointed and, if the first three episodes are a sign of more good things to come, I am absolutely excited for the future of the series.
A new episode of “Invincible” will be released every Thursday and can be watched on Amazon Prime Video.
