Women’s gymnastics junior Kiera O’Shea has earned her second career Huskie of the Week honor, after earning first place on vault for the sixth consecutive meet.
Competing at the Western Michigan University Tri-Meet on Sunday, O’Shea reached a new season high on vault, posting a 9.900.
O’Shea competed all around, earning a 9.725 on floor and a 9.450 on balance beam.
NIU women’s gymnastics scored a 194.450 in the meet, defeating the University of Wisconsin-Whitewater while falling to Western Michigan.
This is O’Shea’s second time being named Huskie of the Week, after being awarded the title last season.
The Huskies return to action at noon Sunday in Muncie, Indiana, when they take on the Ball State University Cardinals.
Next week’s Huskie of the Week will be announced March 3.
The Northern Star sports section’s Huskie of the Week is voted for on a weekly basis. Student-athletes considered for this week’s edition were selected based on their performance in competitions taking place Feb. 17 to Feb. 23.
