NIU’s annual Reality Bytes Film Festival returns this week, featuring student-made films from around the world.
Reality Bytes is a free event where short films are shown to the DeKalb community over the course of two days.
This year, the film festival will be from 6:30 p.m. to 8:00 p.m. Tuesday in Cole Hall, Room 100, and from 7 p.m. to 10 p.m Wednesday at the Egyptian Theatre, 135 N. Second St. Both showtimes are free and open to the public with the first night showing 10 films and the second showing 11.
A few of the short films that will be shown are “Curry in a Hurry,” “Summer Wedding,” “Forgive me Father,” “Don’t Cry,” “Eye of the Beholder,” “Sing me to Sleep,” “Stay out of the Sun,” “Promenade” and “Blushed Steps,” among others.
Audience members will be able to vote for their favorite film each night of the festival. The winners of best feature film, best documentary, best high school film, best animated short and audience favorite will be announced at the end of the second night.
There will also be door prizes and raffles at the event.
The festival is run by Laura Vazquez, a media studies professor, and the students enrolled in COMS 475, film festival administration.
