NIU volleyball revealed its 2025 schedule on June 9, outlining 27 matches with 12 in Huskie country this fall.
“I am very excited to get the 2025 season underway,” said NIU volleyball head coach Sondra D’Amore in the NIU press release. “We have a lot of new faces on the team this fall and wanted to give the group an opportunity against a variety of competition to prepare us for MAC play.”
The Huskies start their season on the road facing non-conference opponents, competing in the Stetson Hatters Invitational on Aug. 29-30. Hosted by Stetson University, NIU will also battle Lamar University and the University of Southern Mississippi in DeLand, Florida.
The Huskies enter September with an invitational of their own, hosting Merrimack College, Indiana State University and Southern Illinois University Edwardsville in the NIU Invitational from Sept. 5-6 at the Convocation Center.
Volleyball goes back on the road to compete in the Hampton Inn Invitational in Indianapolis. Hosted by Indiana University Indianapolis, the Huskies will also meet Gonzaga University and Bellarmine University on Sept. 12-13 to round out non-conference play.
The Huskies finish September with a two-game homestand, taking on Central Michigan University on Sept. 25 and Eastern Michigan University on Sept. 26.
Going back on the road to start October, the Huskies head to Muncie, Indiana to challenge Ball State University on Oct. 2. Continuing east, NIU faces Miami University on Oct. 3, one of two teams that the Huskies defeated in 2024, before returning home on Oct. 7 to take on the 2024 Mid-American Conference tournament champion Western Michigan University Broncos.
Volleyball takes on Bowling Green State University in back-to-back matchups on Oct. 9-10 in Bowling Green, Ohio before hosting the University of Toledo in more back-to-back competition on Oct. 17-18. The Huskies travel back to Ohio to battle the University of Akron in another set of games on Oct. 24-25.
NIU goes to Kalamazoo, Michigan to face Western Michigan University for the second time on Oct. 28. The Huskies kick off a four-game homestand, with two matches against the University of Buffalo on Oct 31. and Nov. 1, with Ohio University visiting the following weekend, facing NIU on Nov. 7-8 as the Huskies’ final home matches.
NIU finishes the regular season on the road, battling Kent State University in two games on Nov. 14-15 in Kent, Ohio.
Bowling Green will be the host of the championship tournament after claiming the 2024 regular season title. The tournament will take place Nov. 21-23, with the top six teams in the conference competing for a title.
The Huskies take on the DePaul University Blue Demons in an exhibition match at 7 p.m. on Aug. 22 before serving up regular season action. Season tickets are available on Evenue.
