DeKALB – Republican Tasha Sims announced on July 25 that she will seek re-election as DeKalb county clerk and recorder.
“I’m excited to share that I’m officially running for re-election as your DeKalb county clerk and recorder,” Sims said. “While I’m still in my first term, I’ve never taken this role – or your confidence in me – for granted. It’s been one of the most challenging and rewarding opportunities I’ve ever had.”
Under Sims’ leadership, the office launched a fully accessible website, built a social media presence and implemented precinct realignment to simplify ballots and ease the burden on election judges.
“We’ve made major strides in voter outreach, election judge recruitment and maintaining accurate voter rolls,” Sims said. “I’m especially proud that while many counties have struggled to find election judges, DeKalb county had more apply than we needed at one point. That speaks to the strength of our community and the relationships we’ve been able to form.”
The office also increased election judge pay, installed a secure 24/7 ballot drop box, expanded voter education and is preparing to launch eRecording and MyDec services in the Recorder’s Division later this year.
“We want to continue offering in-person service you can count on while expanding convenient digital options for the public,” Sims said. “That includes offering passport photo services right in our office to create a one-stop shop, launching online filing for Statements of Economic Interest and exploring new software that would allow the public to fill out marriage license applications and other vital records forms online.”
Sims plans to focus on continuing to expand accessibility and improve resources.
“I’m committed to meeting people where they are. For some, that means 24/7 access to services online. For others, that means a friendly face across the counter or a live person answering the phone. That balance is incredibly important to me,” Sims said.
She added, “I care deeply about doing the job right, being accessible and always striving to improve. And while some days are harder than others – I love what I do, I love who I do it with and I love who I do it for.”
Nominations for county clerk and recorder can be voted on during the general primary on March 17, 2026, and elections will occur on Nov. 3, 2026. Visit the DeKalb County Clerk and Recorder website for more election information.
