After scoring his first collegiate goals in NIU men’s soccer’s 4-1 win against Governors State University, freshman forward Tobias Crear has been named this week’s Northern Star Huskie of the Week.
His first goal came in the 82nd minute, collecting a saved shot from senior forward Taylor Davis and tapping it into the net.
Just four minutes later, Crear found the back of the goal again, netting a cross from junior forward Dasha Curiel for NIU’s final goal of the match.
This is Crear’s first Huskie of the Week honor, and the first of the season for men’s soccer.
NIU men’s soccer begins Missouri Valley Conference play at 7 p.m. Sunday in Des Moines, Iowa against Drake University. The match will be streamed on ESPN+ and live stats will be updated on StatBroadcast.
The Northern Star sports section’s Huskie of the Week is voted for on a weekly basis. Student-athletes considered for this week’s edition were selected based on their performance in competitions taking place from Sept. 15 to Sept. 21.
