Fall is upon us, and with it comes many anticipated books. Here is a look at six books readers will be able to get their hands within the next few months.
“Book of Lives: A Memoir of Sorts” by Margaret Atwood
Known for her infamous novel “The Handmaid’s Tale,” Atwood will be releasing her memoir on Nov. 4. In her memoir, Atwood takes readers on a ride through her life, discussing writing and the connections between real life and art.
“Alchemised” by SenLinYu
This novel, released Wednesday, follows a woman who has missing memories as she fights to survive a “war-torn world of necromancy and alchemy — and the man tasked with unearthing the deepest secrets of her past” according to the summary provided by the publisher. The book is now available on Amazon and Barnes & Noble among other booksellers.
“Dead and Alive: Essays” by Zadie Smith
Smith’s collection of essays will be out on Oct. 28 and will take a closer look at artists Kara Walker, Celia Paul and Toyin Ojih Odutola. Smith invites readers to think about the 2022 film Tár, and for New York to look back at spontaneous moments.
“The Eleventh Hour: A Quintet of Stories” by Salman Rushdie
According to the summary, Rushdie’s novel takes readers on a “spellbinding exploration of life, death and what comes into focus at the proverbial eleventh hour of life.” “The Eleventh Hour” ponders legacy, life and death and identity. The book will be available on Nov. 4.
“Tom’s Crossing” by Mark Z. Danielewski
Bestselling author of “House of Leaves,” Danielewski takes readers on a journey of two friends who are determined to save a pair of horses that are facing the potential to be slaughtered. The novel will be released on Oct. 28.
“The House of Saphir” by Marissa Meyer
Known for her young adult sci-fi series “The Lunar Chronicles,” Meyer returns with “The House of Saphir.” Meyer’s novel is a retelling of the folktale “Bluebeard” done through the genres of romantasy, fantasy and murder mystery. The book will be out on Nov. 4.
