DeKALB – Rooted for Good is a nonprofit organization that gives people access to healthy and sustainably-sourced foods through its mobile food pantry truck that brings groceries throughout DeKalb County.
Other than the mobile food pantry, Rooted for Good hosts “pay-as-you’re-able” community dinners, a food pantry in Genoa, a prairie restoration project and summer camps.
The organization also provides volunteering opportunities for community members as well as real-world job training for adults with developmental disabilities.
The food distributions are free and open to all with no limits.
The Rooted for Good mobile food pantry will host pop-up events throughout DeKalb in October. The schedule for these events is as follows:
- 4 p.m. to 5 p.m. Wednesday at Hinckley First United Methodist Church, 801 N Sycamore St.
- 3 p.m. to 5 p.m. Oct. 2 at University Village Apartments, 722 N. Annie Glidden Road
- 3:30 p.m. to 5 p.m. Oct. 7 at Malta Historical Society, 127 N. Third St.
- 11 a.m. to 12 p.m. Oct. 9 at Westminster Presbyterian Church, 830 N. Annie Glidden Road,
- 3 p.m. to 5 p.m. Tuesday, Oct. 14 at Cortland Lions Club Shelter, 70 S. Llanos St.
- 3:30 p.m. to 5 p.m. Thursday, Oct. 16 at Malta Historical and Genealogical Society, 127 N. Third St.
- 3 p.m. to 5 p.m. Oct. 21 at University Village Apartments, 722 N. Annie Glidden Road
- 11 a.m. to 12 p.m. Oct. 23 at Westminster Presbyterian Church, 830 N. Annie Glidden Road
- 4 p.m. to 6 p.m. Oct. 28 at St. Paul the Apostle Parish, 340 W. Arnold Road
