Presented by members from the NIU School of Music, the Huskie Sound Garden gives a sound bath experience featuring regular and digital instruments including windchimes, handbells, rain sticks and more. This event is free for all to attend.
NIU COLLEGE OF ENGINEERING AND ENGINEERING TECHNOLOGY JOB AND INTERNSHIP FAIR
Date and Time: 10:30 a.m. to 3 p.m. Tuesday
Location: Barsema Alumni and Visitors Center
This internship fair will include dozens of companies seeking students from the College of Engineering and Engineering Technology to kickstart their careers through potential internships or employment. Attendees can find the attending businesses on the event website.
Date and Time: 4:30 p.m. to 6:30 p.m. Tuesday
Location: East Lagoon
This Homecoming event will see teams race across the water in boats constructed from cardboard and other recyclable materials. This event is free for all to attend.

Location: Music Building
Led by Director Thomas Bough, the NIU Wind Ensemble will be performing a two hour concert. Tickets will be free for NIU students, $7 for the general public and $5 for non-NIU students, seniors and staff. Those interested may also stream the event through the live webcast.
HUSKIE HOMECOMING EMPLOYEE BASH
Date and Time: 5 p.m. to 7 p.m. Wednesday
Location: Holmes Student Center, Huskie Den
For NIU faculty and staff, challenge up to four of your colleagues in a bowling match, a game of pool or test your grasp of a variety of NIU and non-NIU related trivia topics. Snacks and refreshments will be provided free of charge and prizes will be awarded for trivia and bingo winners.
HUSKIE RUMBLE PRESENTED BY TURTLE BEACH
Date and Time: 6 p.m. to 9 p.m. Wednesday
Location: Altgeld Hall, 100
NIU Esports invites the NIU community for a night of retro video games and “Super Smash Bros.” competition. Attendees are invited to compete for prizes provided by Turtle Beach. This event is free for all to attend.
HOMECOMING BLOCK PARTY: DOWN HOME IN DOWNTOWN DEKALB
Date and Time: 5 p.m. to 8 p.m. Thursday
Location: Downtown DeKalb, 100 to 400 Lincoln Highway
The Homecoming Block Party is the main event of the Homecoming festivities and has something for all members of the community. The Block Party will include a kidzone, classic car show, a parade, pep rally, food trucks, concerts and more along with discounts at nearby businesses. This event is free for all to attend.
NIU ADVENTURES WEEKLY THURSDAY CAMPFIRES
Date and Time: 5 p.m. to 7 p.m. Thursday
Location: Recreation Center, Adventure Center
Starting Oct. 2 and continuing until Oct. 30, NIU Adventures will be holding campfires for the community every Thursday. Visitors are invited to bring their friends and enjoy a night of campfires, music, trivia and hot drinks. This event is free for all to attend.
BOWLING TOURNAMENT – HUSKIE SHUFFLE – THREE STEP
Date and Time: 2:30 p.m. Friday
Location: Holmes Student Center, Huskie Den
NIU students, faculty and staff are invited to compete in a three step bowling tournament for the chance to win prizes. Cost for entry is $6 per bowler – minimum for a team is six bowlers – and participants must bring their OneCard for entry.
HUSKIE HOUR AT JONAMAC ORCHARD
Date and Time: 4 p.m. to 6 p.m. Friday
Location: Jonamac Orchard
Jonamac Orchard – located at 19412 Shabbona Road, Malta – will host a tasting event featuring live music, apple picking and a corn maze. This event is for visitors aged 21 and over, but Jonamac will have activities for all ages. Tickets are $35 until Tuesday and $40 afterward.
