DeKALB — Redshirt junior quarterback Jackson Proctor is no longer with the NIU football team, an NIU Athletics spokesperson confirmed to the Northern Star on Tuesday. Proctor is not listed on the team’s roster, and no information was disclosed about why he left the program.
A transfer from Dartmouth, Proctor was listed as an “OR” alongside Brady Davidson at the backup quarterback position on NIU’s depth chart for the first four games of the season. Proctor saw action in the season opener against Holy Cross on Aug. 28, stepping in for the injured Josh Holst during the second half of a 19-17 win. He played 22 total snaps, according to Pro Football Focus, and completed 2-of-8 passes for 8 yards while also rushing twice for 13 yards.
Proctor was part of the Huskies’ 18-player transfer portal class this offseason. He was ranked a three-star transfer, the No. 168 transfer quarterback and the No. 2,406 overall transfer, according to 247Sports.
During his four seasons with the Big Green, Proctor played in 17 games and completed 70% of his passes for 2,355 yards and 18 touchdowns. He also had 617 rushing yards and five touchdowns on 79 carries.
Proctor’s midseason departures leave NIU with three quarterbacks on its roster: Holst, Davidson and Jalen Macon. Davidson is currently listed as the Holst’s backup for Saturday’s 118th Homecoming game against Miami (Ohio).
