DeKALB – The Salvation Army of DeKalb is helping those who need a little help for the holidays this year.
From Oct. 1 through Nov. 21, The Salvation Army will provide a Thanksgiving food registration for families to be able to receive a free turkey and Thanksgiving food box.
In collaboration with local churches and donors, more than 600 Thanksgiving meal boxes will be provided to families.
Families looking for a meal box are required to sign up in person at The Salvation Army of DeKalb’s office at 830 Grove St. Proof of residence in DeKalb will be required in order to sign up.
The Salvation Army will also be providing families with the Angel Tree Christmas Toy registration. This helps families with children ages 0-12 looking for assistance in giving gifts to their children for Christmas.
This is an annual event in which The Salvation Army provides toys that are donated to over 4,000 children looking to enjoy the Christmas season.
Registration for this event can be found online at https://saangeltree.org/, as well as in person by appointment.
