DeKALB – DeKalb will hold its General Primary Election on March 17. Preparations are underway, as petitions for nomination/election for offices to be voted upon will begin to be filed with the DeKalb County Clerk and Recorder.
The first day of filing is set to occur from 8:30 a.m. to 10 a.m. on Oct. 27 at the DeKalb County Administrative Building in the Garden Room.
The last day of filing will be from 8:30 a.m to 5 p.m. on Nov. 3.
An established party petition filing period will be held as well in the DeKalb County Administrative Building in the election division on the second floor. This filing period is set to last from Oct. 27 to Nov. 3. This building is open from 8:30 a.m. to 4:30 p.m.
Ballet placement is said to be determined by the order in which petitions are filed. A filing lottery will be held if more than two candidates for the same office are in line at 8:30 a.m. on the first day of filing, or if those candidates file on the last hour – 4 p.m. to 5 p.m. – on the last day. The lottery is set to take place at 3 p.m. on Nov. 12 if needed.
