After finishing tied for fifth place at the Purdue Fall Invitational on Tuesday, redshirt freshman Devin Swoyer has been named the Mid-American Conference Golfer of the Week, the conference announced on Friday.
Swoyer’s finish helped push the Huskies to a sixth-place team finish in a field of 15 teams.
In his first career top-five finish, Swoyer ended three under par with an overall score of 213. Swoyer’s score improved in each round, posting a 71, even with par, in the first round and rounding out the tournament with a 70, two under par.
This is the second MAC award for the Huskies this season, after junior Craig Long earned the honor on Sept. 26 after taking a first place finish at the Badger Invitational.
NIU men’s golf returns to action on Sunday at the Quail Valley Invitational in Vero Beach, Florida, hosted by Michigan State University.
