NIU student killed in Sycamore motorcycle accident

DeKALB – At 4 p.m. Sunday, authorities were called to the 1700 block of DeKalb Avenue in Sycamore after an SUV and a Suzuki motorcycle collided.

Police confirmed the motorcyclist, identified as 21-year-old NIU student Turki Alazemi on Tuesday, was pronounced dead at the scene of the crash.

Alazemi came to NIU in fall 2024 and was enrolled this semester as an electrical engineering major, the university confirmed.

According to a press release from the Sycamore Police Department, an investigation on the circumstances of the crash is still ongoing. Updates may be provided as the investigation continues.

Anyone with information regarding the crash is asked to contact the Sycamore Police Department at 815-895-2123 (non-emergency line) or 815-895-3435 (main department line).
