America is on the edge of its seat this week as the public anticipates the release of the full investigative files on the late convicted sex offender Jeffrey Epstein. In an odd stance shift, President Donald Trump has flopped from being adamantly opposed to releasing the Epstein files to agreeing that the release must happen soon. But his change of opinion wonāt change the truth.
Trumpās switch-up follows last weekās release of 23,000 Epstein documents by the House Committee on Oversight and Government Reform.
Among the released files were emails between Epstein and journalist Michael Wolff, which state Trump āknew about the girls.ā Another email between Epstein and his brother mentioned pictures of Trump āblowing Bubbaā which has since gone viral.
The president is clearly not having a good time.
Trump has demanded investigations of several political opponents for involvement with the Epstein files, deemed the situation āthe Epstein hoaxā and stated he is in full support of the filesā release because he has ānothing to hide.ā
Even if the Epstein files donāt have any real evidence against Trump ā and, wow, thatād be a true shock ā his lifetime of accumulated vulgarities cannot be erased.
It cannot be erased that Trump has been found liable for sexual abuse, that dozens have accused him of sexual misconduct, or that he is recorded bragging about his own vile actions against women.
We donāt need the Epstein files released to prove that Trump is a misogynistic, power-hungry and crude man. We already knew that, and we still elected him.
We need the Epstein files released because it is the right thing to do. We need them released because there is no universe where it is morally acceptable to allow the truth about hundreds of assaulted victims ā including children ā to be forgotten.
The game of dystopian bingo this administration is playing scored a blackout long ago; Trumpās cruelty is no longer surprising.
Whether the president supports or lashes the Epstein file release, it wonāt be for him. Itās for countless victims of unspeakable crimes.
