DeKalb GameStop ceases operations following mass store shutdowns

DeKALB – On Wednesday, the GameStop store in DeKalb, located at 2564 Sycamore Road, permanently closed its doors. 

The closure is part of a mass store shutdown by GameStop throughout the U.S. 

A message displayed on the windows of the store thanked customers for their continued support of GameStop. 

“Thank you for being a loyal GameStop customer,” the message read. “Although this store is closing, we look forward to seeing you soon at Algonquin GameStop or another nearby location.”

It is not yet announced what will replace the former store.

Totus Tuus Keely is a junior from Ottawa, Illinois, majoring in mechatronics engineering. He began as a photographer in the spring 2024 semester. Outside of his busy class schedule, Totus enjoys photographing sports and capturing the emotions of fans and players. He also enjoys performing in the World Music Program and the NIU Pep Band, as well as constantly expanding his musical taste.
