Huskies on Ice returns to East Lagoon

DeKALB — Lace up your skates and join the NIU Campus Activities Board (CAB) for an evening on the ice.

The Huskies on Ice first started in January 2014 on a makeshift ice rink in the Evans Field House. Since then, the event has looked different and has moved locations. From 3 p.m. to 6 p.m. on Friday, Huskies on Ice will be at the East Lagoon.

As there is no open skate scheduled, students can sign in and pre-register through the Huskie Hub to participate. Skates and hot chocolate will also be provided to attendees.

Attendees must sign up for a required 20-minute time slot; availability is limited.

CAB is not responsible for lost or stolen belongings, as students are prompted to plan ahead.

Students are encouraged to arrive 5 to 10 minutes before their scheduled time to ensure a smooth check-in process.

Isabella Froh is a junior from Sheboygan, Wisconsin, majoring in communicative disorders with a minor in deafness in the College of Health and Human Sciences. She previously served as the assistant news editor. Isabella is also part of NIU’s Concert Choir and Chamber Choir. When she’s not doing any of those, Isabella enjoys arts and crafts and performing in musicals and plays.

Grace Kilbreath is a junior at NIU majoring in psychology. She started as a photojournalist at the Northern Star in the spring 2025 semester. She likes to listen to music and play video games in her free time.
