In this Weekly Writeup, you will find events such as a free showing of “Zootopia 2,” a Synergy Lab event, “Antígona Furiosa” and the Arthur D. Montzka Young Artists Concert.

Head to the NIU Recreation Center Monday evening for a free showing of “Zootopia 2.” Free popcorn will also be provided while supplies last. The event is open to all NIU students.
Date and Time: 3:30 p.m. to 5 p.m. Wednesday
Location: Founders Memorial Library, 71 North Garage
In the 71 North Partnership Studio, Synergy Lab is a free event to help students turn what they are learning in the classroom into real world experience. In the event students can learn about UX, data, project practices, AI, and professional communications, product and project practices, data, new technologies, and professional communication skills.

Location: Stevens Building, Sally Stevens Players Theatre
The NIU School of Theatre and Dance presents “Antígona Furiosa.” Drawing inspiration from Sophocles’ Antígone, it’s a play about the “Dirty War” of Argentina. Tickets are $9 for the general public and free for NIU students. Children 10 years of age and under can attend free of charge.
After Saturday’s performance, a cast and crew talk back will be hosted by NIU Associate Professor of Theatre Gibson Cima.
Tickets can be purchased through the College of Visual and Performing Arts website.
ARTHUR D. MONTZKA YOUNG ARTISTS CONCERT
Date and Time: 7 p.m. to 9:30 p.m Saturday
Location: Music Building, Boutell Memorial Concert Hall
Head to the Music Building Saturday to watch the Arthur D. Montzka Young Artists Concert, featuring the winner of the 2026 Arthur D. Montzka Young Artists Concerto Competition with the Kishwaukee Symphony Orchestra. The competition took place on Jan. 3 at the Boutell Memorial Concert Hall in the Music Building.
A performance of “Epitaph for a Man Who Dreamed,” a song commemorating the life of Martin Luther King, Jr. will be played as well.
Tickets are $20 for adults, $15 for seniors and free for students with a school ID.
