FLOURISHING FLOWERS: COMMUNITY AND CARE FROM A SUCCESSFUL LOCAL BUSINESS

At Flourishing Flowers: Community and Care from a Successful Local Business, the Willrett Flower Company founders will explain how their business has grown in DeKalb and discuss their impact in the community.
After learning about their journey, attendees are encouraged to stay and make small flower arrangements.

Join Tails Humane Society for the second annual Sip & Sparkle: Jewelry Swap at Blumen Gardens. This event brings an evening of food, drinks, networking and jewelry. Attendees can exchange three to five pieces of gently used jewelry for tokens and a number, then enjoy the festivities!
Once the jewelry store opens, your number will be called and you can swap your tokens for an equivalent amount of jewelry. The more pieces you bring to the swap, the more additions you can take home to your collection. Tickets cost $35 and are available at the Talis Humane Society website.
KISHWAUKEE SYMPHONY ORCHESTRA-SPRING POPS: A CELEBRATION OF AMERICAN FILM COMPOSERS

Friday at the Boutell Memorial Concert Hall in the Music Building, the Kishwaukee Symphony Orchestra will take the stage for its Spring Pops concert.
The concert will honor American film composers, with works by Michael Giacchino, known for his composition in the 2009 film “Star Trek” and “The Batman,” and John Williams, known for his composition in “Harry Potter and the Philosopher’s Stone” and “Jaws.”

If you are interested in the paranormal, from Saturday to Sunday you can attend Obscura Paracon 2026 in Altgeld Hall. The two-day paranormal convention brings together investigators, authors, mediums, cryptid researchers, psychics, witches, vendors and fans of the strange for a weekend of lectures, workshops, shopping, networking and after-hours events.
Special guests, hands-on workshops and a vendor marketplace will be present as well. Remaining tickets range from $15 to $40, as the higher-priced add-ons, which went up to $85, are already sold out. Tickets are available at the Obscura Paracon website.
