Clerk candidate says she’s ready

Sue Johnson, the Democratic candidate for DeKalb County Clerk, said she believes she has “the knowledge and ability to administer all facets of the office.”
She said she is more prepared than her running mate, Chief Deputy Clerk Sharon Holmes, to take over the position as county clerk. “I have worked on a larger variety of responsibilities than my opponent at the office,” she said.
Johnson said she has ample experience working with records of the office.
“I have worked two years in a user capacity, using all the records,” she said. “I could go back and make changes that would benefit DeKalb County.”
Johnson said Holmes is interested in splitting the offices of county clerk and recorder. “This would be very costly to the taxpayers,” she said.
“The two positions could be handled just as well by one office as long as it has a good staff and administrator.”
Presently DeKalb County and Kane County are working on the same computer system, Johnson said.
“Kane County’s clerk is considering making their own network computer. We should begin looking at our own computer system and upgrading it to do all the work,” she said.
Johnson, former Chief Deputy Recorder and now manager for American Title Insurance Agency, said she believes she has “a good knowledge of the whole office.”
