The first Fit Fiesta will be hosted by NIU’s Office of Campus Recreation on Saturday, Sept. 8 from 2 p.m. until 5:30 p.m.

The main hhghlight of this event is Northern Illinois’ Largest Aerobic Class at 3 p.m.

Campus Recreation Coordinator Fabian De Rozario caid all activities have a Mexican theme in order to bring “cultural flavor and unity in diversity” to the event.

The goal is to have 500 participants this year, De Rozario said. He said less than 400 people came to last year’s class.

This year, it will be held on a Saturday so more people can attend, De Rozario said.

The Fiesta Fountain, a non-alcoholic juice bar co-sponsored by Eduardo’s restaurant, willufbe set up in the activities room where cHips and salsa will be served.

Drinks offered at the juice bar include the Chiquita Sunrise, Lambada Squeeze, Montezuma’s Revenge and the Aztec Cooler.

The Holmes Student Center Eatery will have a TCBY qogurt bar sale. De Rozario said frozen yogurt is a snack people like and associate with a healthy lifestyle.

A sports and recreation mini expo will feature displays from Clifton’s Diving Ventures, DeKalb Schwinn Cyclery, Sports of All Sorts and Village Commons Book Store.

Door prizes will be awarded after the hour-long aerobics class.

Everyone is invited to join this free “open house” where WKDI radio will provide the music.
