Victims of press
September 12, 1990
I was truly disturbed by the article “Credit Abused by Fraternity.” It was written as if a judicial hearing was taking place. The members of Omega Psi Phi did not deserve the insensitivity of the press. The drawing of the map with a key was truly out of line.
The media continues to exploit on African-American wrong-doing. It was not important to quote every dollar price at every designated location. The type of alchohol purchased was unnecessarily mentioned.
When will we reach a press equilibrium? Freedom of the press does not allow or should not allow insult to injury.
Education is the only directional tool that we can rely on to eliminate these non-controlled attacks. Beth Behland, you produced a deplorable article. I empathize with the members of Omega Psi Phi, not for your actions, but because you have been victimized by the press.[[XR]]
