BEARDSTOWN, Ill.—A DeKalb man remains in a downstate jail facing a $500,000 bond and five criminal charges after being locked up for a week.
Richard Brim, 46, was arrested April 25 by Beardstown Police and Cass County Police. Brim is due in court May 8 for a preliminary hearing.
He was charged with aggravated unlawful restraint, aggravated criminal sexual assault, unlawful possession of a weapon, unlawful possession of a controlled substance with intent to deliver and unlawful possession of a controlled substance.
“He has a long, long, long line of convictions all over the state of Illinois,” said Cass County State’s Attorney John Dahlam.
Dahlam said he believes Brim, who has been convicted before in Cass County, has relatives in the Beardstown area. Brim was last arrested in the early 1980s for theft. “He was operating a ‘chop shop’ in the countryside,” Dahlam said, adding Brim dealt mainly in stolen motorcycle parts.
The owner of the house where the alleged sexual assault took place also was arrested after further police investigation revealed she allegedly possessed drugs. The house owner also is scheduled to appear in court May 8.
