ISU student pleads guilty

A former student goverment president at Illinois State University stole from his fraternity house to support his cocaine habit.

Dan Schramm, Hickory Hills, Ill., pleaded guilty to burglarizing his fraternity house in May 1989.

Schramm told police that he stole to pay off unpaid debts because he spent his money on cocaine. Schramm faces a maximum sentence of 90 days in jail and a fine of up to $500. Sentencing is set for June 8.

He admitted to stealing a computer, a stereo and a video cassette recorder, police said.

ISU in Normal, Sangamon State University in Springfield and NIU are governed by the Board of Regents.
