Two NIU student’s fates to be decided

The fates of two NIU students who allegedly made false driver’s licenses in the residence halls will be decided in court.

Mark Wotjowcyz, 18, 1158 Stevenson Towers North, and Rajesh Marwah, 20, 433 Stevenson Towers South, were arrested March 7 by University Police and charged with unlawful possession of driver’s license equipment.

Marwah waived his right to a jury trial and faces an arraignment May 8. Wotjowcyz is scheduled to appear in court Thursday for a pretrial. The two students begin NIU Judicial Office hearings Monday, said UP Sgt. Ralph Taylor.

About 14 of the licenses have turned up, Taylor said. However, some have been confiscated by police from other states.

DeKalb Police found at least one of the false I.D.s. allegedly made by Marwah and Wotjowcyz, police said.

William Hotzfield, 425 Stevenson Towers South, was arrested March 30 by DeKalb Police and charged with the unlawful use of a false driver’s license made by Marwah and Wotjowcyz.

Hotzfield told police he paid $100 for the license, police said.

If found guilty, Marwah and Wotjowcyz face up to three years in jail and $10,000 in fines.

Police made seven similar arrests at Eastern Illinois University in Charleston and Illinois State University in Normal.
