‘Springfest’ to ease tension
April 25, 1990
So much to do, so little time.
That is the case during this week’s “Hot! Hot! Hot! Springfest 1990.”
“This is the week before finals to take a break and relax,” said Lisa Ahern, Campus Activities Board Publicity and Promotions director.
CAB is sponsoring free “nooner” concerts each day from noon until 1 p.m. in King Memorial Commons. Righteous Podiatrist is playing today, The Essentials play Thursday and Shake the Cage will play Friday, Ahern said.
Saturday, CAB will present “A Day in the Park” at the East Lagoon from noon until 5 p.m. Four bands will perform, including Tuesday’s Child, Ajacks, Funkhouse and Dick Holliday and the Bamboo Gang.
There also will be food, various booths and giveaways Saturday. Village Commons Bookstore, Amnesia, McDonald’s and Banana Boat Skin Care and Sun Care products will offer freebies. The event is sponsored by Leinenkugel’s, Ahern said.
“The day in the park is a great time for students to get a break,” said Student Association President Huda Scheidelman.
Another Saturday event for students to watch are the annual Bed Races. The races start at 10:30 a.m. on Castle Drive, Ahern said.
“A lot of the more traditional activities are good opportunities for students to relax before the end of the semester,” Scheidelman said.
This is Springfest’s fourth year. Ahern said expects more than 1,000 students to go to Day in the Park.
