Europeans visit for trade show

Representatives from five European countries will talk about economic changes affecting trade with American business at the second annual International Trade Review Seminar.

European representatives from Austria, Belgium, Poland, Switzerland and West Germany, and a representative from the United States Department of Commerce will attend the seminar.

Jens Mueller’s Multinational Business Management students will hold the seminar from 3:30 p.m. to 5:15 p.m. Thursday in Wirtz Hall Auditorium.

“We will hear (European) officials’ views and views from the citizens of these countries about the changes in Europe,” Mueller said. “Do they see German unification as threatening, good or bad?”

“Will there be a labor migration? How is communism going to be affected?” Mueller said representatives should be able to answer these questons.

He said he hopes students and faculty from other fields, such as political science and sociology, will attend the seminar.

Each representative will have five minutes to introduce themselves and tell the audience about their countries, said Mueller. After introductions are made, there will be an open panel discussion and questions are encouraged.

“We’re hoping for very active dialogue,” he said.
