The driver of an anhydrous ammonia tanker truck was injured Friday afternoon when the truck he was driving collided with a station wagon in Cortland.
Michael E. Nelson, 37, Elburn, was treated and released from St. Anthony’s Medical Center in Rockford. Nelson was originally taken to Kishwaukee Community Hospital but was later flown by helicopter to Rockford.
Nelson was driving eastbound on Rt. 38 at the time of the 4:18 p.m. collison. John K. McNutt, 19, Waterman, was traveling southbound on Somonauk Road in a station wagon and allegedly did not yield at the stop sign, DeKalb County Police said.
The truck belonged to Stover Brothers, Elburn. No ammonia leaked from the truck.
Police charged McNutt with failure to yield.
