Two speakers visiting NIU will hold workshops today for teachers applying for federal or state grants for fiscal year 1991.

Warren Lionberger and Cheri Kennedy are conducting the workshops in the Carl Sandburg Auditorium of the Holmes Student Center.

The first workshop deals with federally-funded grants and begins at 9 a.m.

A 1 p.m. session will talk about drug-free schools programs. The day will close with a session on state programs at 2:15 p.m.

The state programs cover summer school sessions, reading improvement, learning objectives, staff development and gifted education, according to a press release from NIU’s Office of Public Information.

Four similar workshops are scheduled statewide for April. Others will be held in Arlington Heights April 23, in Ina on April 25 and in Springfield on April 26.
