Flasher reportedly seen inside campus building

NIU students reported two men masturbating in public Tuesday, University Police said.

One student said he saw a flasher at about 2:45 p.m. outside a classroom in the Psychology/Mathematics building, police said.

The student described a man who has frequently exposed himself in public during the last five or six years, Sgt. Ralph Taylor said.

The flasher was last seen March 21 in DuSable Hall Room 120 A, he said.

Victims described the flasher as an older, white male about 5 foot 7 inches tall with a balding head of brown hair. He wears gold, wire-rim, tinted glasses, UP Officer Eugene Massey said.

Taylor said Tuesday the man was carrying a black tote bag with a Penthouse magazine inside.

“No one seems to be able to catch this guy,” Taylor said. “People tend to report these incidents long after they occur.”

The man appears to know his way around campus very well, Taylor said.

“I’d like to catch him because I believe he is an individual who needs help,” he said.

Another student saw a man masturbating in the doorway of Cole Auditorium about 1 p.m., but did not report the incident until after 3 p.m., he said.

The two incidents are probably unrelated, Taylor said.
