‘Dreamgirls’ to be performed

The professional national touring production of the hit Broadway musical “Dreamgirls” will be presented tonight at DeKalb’s Egyptian Theatre located on 135 N. Second St.

This 8 p.m. presentation will conclude the NIU Fine Arts Series of 1989-90 and .

“Dreamgirls” is the story of a black female singing group’s rise to fame and fortune in the 1960’s and 70’s. This musical made Jennifer Holliday a star and won a Grammy Award forits original cast album.

The new Daedalus Productions “Dreamgirls” tour is booked for more than 100 performances in 30 states by the time it concludes in June.

Prices are $12 for the public, $8 for senior citizens, and $5 for NIU students.

Tickets are on sale at the Carl Sandburg box office in NIU’s Holmes Student Center, noon to 6 p.m., weekdays. Tickets are also on sale at the Junction Book Room, 822 W. Lincoln, DeKalb, 815/758-1580.
