The Heartland Blood Center is having a blood drive today at the Holmes Student Center in the Illinois Room from 1 a.m. to 3 p.m.

Lecture on hearing loss

Sharon Lesner from the University of Akron will be speaking on “Personal Societal and Professional Implications of Hearing Loss in the Older Adult,” on Thursday at 7 p.m. in the Holmes Student Center, room 406.

Homecoming spotlight

A spotlight on last semester’s Homecoming will air on TV 8, NIU’s local cable channel, on Friday at 10 p.m. and 10:30 p.m. This production is done by Alpha Epsilon Rho, the National Broadcasting Organization at NIU. For more information call Linda at 748-3613.

Beginning business

A workshop on beginning a business will be held Saturday from 8:30 a.m. to 1:00 p.m. at the Day’s Inn Motel, 1212 W. Lincoln Hwy. The workshop will cover topics such as marketing, fundamentals of record keeping, legal requirements and banking relationships necessary to start a business.

Instructors are from the Aurora Service Corps of Retired Executives (SCORE) and local businesses. The workshop costs $14 and advance registration is required. For more information call 895-3456.
