The Northern Star was recognized by the Illinois College Press Association for achievements in seven catagories.
Advertising Production Manager Chris Lussow and Advertising Representative Jennifer Kennedy placed first in the full page advertisement catagory.
Lussow and Kennedy worked together to produce an advertisement for the Lambda Chi fraternity that looked like an American Express charge card.
Star photographer Randy Pomaro placed second in the spot news catagory. The Star placed third in editorial writing for an edit calling for a separate NIU governing board.
