Huskie bus in two accidents
February 12, 1990
Passengers bound for home on a Greyhound bus Friday were jarred but not injured in the second accident involving a Huskie bus in the past week.
A Route 4 Huskie Bus was turning right from Lucinda Avenue onto Normal Road when it was unable to get around a Greyhound charter bus.
The Greyhound bus was full and waiting to leave for Chicago when the right side of the Huskie bus clipped the back left portion of the Greyhound bus at about 4:20 p.m.
DeKalb Police said the buses sustained under $250 damage. The Huskie bus was scuffed on its right side. Greyhound driver Riley Smith said there was “a little damage to the bumper” of the Greyhound bus.
Smith blamed the accident on the intersection and not the Huskie bus driver. He said the Normal and Lucinda intersection is not wide enough to accommodate buses trying to pickup passengers at the Holmes Student Center. Smith said reopening Carroll Avenue to bus traffic would make bus boarding safer.
