The NIU Society of Professional Journalists will meet Tuesday at 8:45 p.m. in the Cole Hall basement. Officers for the spring semester will be elected and journalism Professor Richard Digby-Junger will speak on journalism law and ethics.

Comedy competition

U.S. College Comedy Competition will be held Tuesday at 7 p.m. in the Diversions Lounge. Students will perform three-minute comedy routines. To participate, students must submit entries to the Campus Activities Board by 4:30 p.m. today.

The NIU winner will be eligible to compete with winners from 100 other schools. Four regional finalists will be flown to Daytona Beach, Florida, to perform and winner will be named the College Comedian of the Year.

Winter Weekend

NIU students can receive credit at NIU Taft Field Campus’ annual Winter Weekend Friday through Sunday. The two-and-a-half-day workshop will offer programs on winter ecology, cross country skiing, storytelling and tracking. For more information, call (815) 732-2111.
