Center offers workshop

NIU’s Creative Art Center and Photolab will offer a spring workshop in photography, painting, woodworking, stained glass, and ceramics Feb. 6 through April 20.

Professor to lecture

Fred E. Bess, professor at Vanderbilt University, will lecture on “Children with Minimal Hearing Loss–A Neglected Population” on Friday, Jan. 19, at 1 p.m. in the Holmes Student Center. For room number, call 753-6508.

AMA meeting to be held

On Tuesday, Jan. 23 the American Marketing Association will hold an introductory meeting in Wirtz Auditorium at 9:15 p.m. for those interested in learning what AMA is about. For more information call 753-0874.

Free tax service offered

The Beta Alpha Psi and the student accounting society will sponsor a free tax preparation service from Jan. 29 to Feb. 9 in the Holmes Student Center between the Pow Wow and Blackhawk Cafeteria from 10 a.m. to 3 p.m. Monday through Friday.

Money raised for victims

NIU’s “Care Week” recently raised $1,650 in donations for the American Red Cross Disaster Relief Fund to aid San Francisco area earthquake victims.

Contributions by groups, individual students, faculty and staff were raised through a canister drive, donation tables, skip-a-meal programs and popcorn sales, according to Z. Ahmad, program coordinator of University Programming and Activities.

OTC taking applications

The U.S. Army ROTC scholarship program is now accepting applications from college freshmen or sophomores who would like to become military officers.

The scholarship will provide college tuition up to $7,000 or 80 percent annual tuition. To obtain an application, contact the department of military science at 753-6239.

Art on display

Swen Parson Gallery will be displaying “Imagenes Contemporeanes: Six Latino Artists” through March 11. Those interested in finding out more about the display can call 753-1936.

Greek Rush scheduled

On Jan. 27 the Delta Omicron Chapter will be hosting a third annual “Pink and Green Extravaganza.” Also, for all women interested in Alpha Kappa Alpha Sorority Inc., there will be a Rush tentatively scheduled for Sunday, Jan. 28.

Submissions requested

The AU Review, Aurora University’s tri-annual publicaton, is welcoming submissions of short stories, poetry, serious essays, and criticisms in all areas of study.
