The NIU chapter of the Society of Professional Journalists will hold a meeting Wednesday at 8:45 p.m. in the Cole Hall basement. Meetings are held every other Wednesday at the same location and time.

A faculty recital will be held on Wednesday in the Music Building’s Recital Hall. The recital will feature Larry Gray playing bass.

Free tax preparation

Free tax preparation service is offered to students from Jan. 29 to Feb. 9 from 10 a.m. to 3 p.m. in the Holmes Student Center between the Pow Wow and the Blackhawk Cafeteria.

This service is sponsored by Beta Alpha Psi and the Student Accounting Society. Necessary forms will be supplied by Beta Alpha Psi.

Medalist to perform

Pianist Benedetto Lupo will present a concert Friday at 8 p.m. in the Egyptian Theatre, 135 N. Second St. Lupo won a bronze medal in the eighth Van Cliburn International Piano Competition.

H.O.U.S.E meeting

H.O.U.S.E. (Home Oriented Unique Schooling Experience) will hold a meeting on Monday. The group is for parents who prefer to educate their children at home.

Scheduling, record keeping and time management will be the focus of the meeting. H.O.U.S.E. holds meetings every first Monday during the school year.

Design competition

Engineering career day

The College of Engineering and Engineering Technology will hold their third annual career day on Feb. 21 and 22.

On the first day, Kenneth Packer, president of Packer Engineering, will speak in Montgomery Hall Auditorium at 7 p.m. On Feb. 22, students will have an opportunity to speak with representatives from various companies.
