Council searches for new projects

For the upcoming semester, the Black Greek Council plans to increase their service projects and fundraising efforts.

Black Greek Council President Mileau Hudson said the council was involved in the Alumni Phone-a-thon during the fall semester and would like to continue fundraising efforts this semester.

“Everyone was real friendly,” said Hudson. Phone-a-thon participants telephoned alumni and thanked them for past contributions. They also encouraged future donations.

Another possible project for the spring semester might be cleaning out the lagoon, Hudson said. However, the project would have to be scheduled toward the end of the semester because of weather constraints, he said.

Hudson said the council also has considered other projects, but they are still in the planning stage.

The council hopes to visit area retirement homes to spend the day with residents, Hudson said. They tried to do it this semester, but missed the application deadline, he said.

The council also hopes to raise money this semester by designing and selling calenders with photos of council members on them, Hudson said. Members are also creating the art work, he said.
