Four NIU seniors have been named as 1989 Board of Regents Scholars.

Christina Fauser of OakLawn, Sandra Finn of Darian, Sandra Kaufmann of Brookfield and Elainie Lillios of Melrose Park each received $400 and a certificate of recognition from the Board of Regents at a recent luncheon.

“I feel like I’m a representative of the University,” said Lillios. “I’m quite honored that I was named.”

Lillios plans a career in music and composing after enrolling in a post-graduate program. She said she hopes to enroll in the Eastman School of Music in Rochester, N.Y. Lillios is a member of two NIU music honor societies

Finn is a computer science major who plans to work in systems analysis and design and eventually enter graduate school, according to F. Marion Miller, director of NIU’s University Honors Program.

Fauser will graduate with university honors and has plans for a career in pediatric or neonatal nursing. She plans to pursue an advanced degree, Miller said. Fauser volunteers weekly at Nauchusa Lutheran Childrens’ Home.

Kaufmann was a recent intern with the London Contemporary Dance School. She is a double major in theater dance and health education and is interested in teaching, dance and dance therapy. Kaufmann might also go on to graduate school.
