Student service expected
December 7, 1989
By amending its constitution and bylaws in the last month, the Student Association has taken a step in the right direction for next semester.
During this semester, a lack of clarity in personnel descriptions in the constitution has resulted in confusion when the SA Supreme Court had to decide whether Brian Subatich could be removed from his position as SA Community Affairs adviser.
However, SA Vice President Steve Coloia said the SA has already begun to clarify the difference between the executive board and the executive staff—the major cause of confusion in the Subatich case.
Coloia said the SA plans to clarify other points of confusion in the document by the end of the spring semester. Assuming the SA members live up to Coloia’s words, they will start the semester on the right foot by improving in their constitution.
Quick action and teamwork to solve internal problems, such as the confusion caused by the constitution, are the best ways for the SA to approach its task.
If members of the SA follow through with a hands-on approach in all aspects of their cause, they will have a successful semester and be able to serve students’ needs. That is all anyone really wants and expects from the SA.
