SEAC to hold fundraiser at Coffeehouse

By Stephan L. Lopes

The Student Environmental Action Coalition is having a fundraiser tonight at the Coffeehouse Restaurant at First Street and Lincoln Highway.

DeKalb’s SEAC is part of a national organization which attempts to educate people on environmental issues, said Emma Keck, a group member.

A $2 cover charge to see the band Happy Hunting, performing Friday, will go directly to SEAC for its educational programs scheduled to begin at 9 p.m.

Naperville punk rock band Chia Pet will be performing on Saturday, but it has not yet been decided whether any of the proceeds will go toward the SEAC, said Coffeehouse Proprietor Curt Halsted. There is also a $2 cover charge for this band.

The SEAC meets every Thursday in Davis Hall. The location changes weekly, so those interested should call Mike Baltasi or Chris Schlak, the group’s organizers, at 758-1466 for more information.

alsted announced they are open for breakfast. Breakfast is served from 7 a.m. to 11 a.m. daily.

The menu will be consistent with Coffeehouse’s commitment to nutritious foods. The breakfasts will feature 95 percent lean ham and 90 percent lean turkey sausage.

Halsted added Coffeehouse will have open microphone nights on Monday and Wednesday. The Fareed Haque Quartet West will also play on Wednesdays.
